Can we change the ending of our story?

For many years, Jason Blyth believed that the trauma of his childhood had already determined how his life would end.

On his 30th birthday, he woke up in rehabilitation facing a stark reality: if nothing changed, his future would lead to prison or death.

In that moment, Jason asked himself a question that transformed his life:

“Is my story being written by me, or by the circumstances of my past?”

That question became the foundation of his life’s work.

In this inspiring Our Stories Matter event hosted by Kintsugi Heroes, Jason shares his extraordinary journey from surviving childhood trauma and addiction to becoming an internationally respected keynote speaker, youth advocate and creator of The Power of Choice™ and Reclaim the Pen™.

Following Jason’s presentation, we explore his story further during a live audience Q&A.

Whether you’re facing adversity yourself, supporting someone else, or simply looking for hope and inspiration, Jason’s story is a powerful reminder that while we cannot change our past, we can choose what we do next.

About Our Stories Matter

Our Stories Matter is a Kintsugi Heroes initiative that provides a safe space for people to share authentic stories of resilience, hope and transformation. We believe that when people tell the stories they need to share, others can find the stories they need to hear.

About Kintsugi Heroes

Inspired by the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold, Kintsugi Heroes is an Australian charity helping people tell the stories they need to share, so that people can find the stories they need to hear.

Through podcasts, videos, books and community events, we create meaningful connections by sharing authentic stories that inspire hope, understanding and belonging.
