Naomi a psychotherapist located in Toronto, Canada. Her story is about her experience in the client’s chair, why she was there and what that was like for her. Her second child was born with a severe brain injury and expected to die, but it took a long time. Her husband was having an affair and he left so she dealt with both traumas at once. Her recovery was slow and painful until she realised she needed validation to be able to heal, then another two years to be able to work out what was happening especially in the relationship dynamics. She joined several support group and learned what feedback was helpful and also read very widely. She now uses her experiences to help others.

Biography:

Naomi Yano is a Registered Psychotherapist, Clinical Supervisor and Certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist in private practice. Her passion is to help others understand that every feeling they have is valid, and that people and relationships aren’t as mysterious and unpredictable as we may think.

In addition to seeing clients and supervising new therapists, she provides education and resources to people coping with unexpected loss, changes, or pain in life through her site, Emotional ICU.

She has published a short eBook and is working on a full-length publication to share her clinical expertise and lived experience of healing from trauma to empower others in their recovery.
